Summer is well under way and we have seen some really high temperatures but the heat has not stopped us from getting out and about and being creative. Tony’s tours took us to Walmer Castle, Tadpole Tea Room, St Margaret’s Bay and we had a great afternoon at Littlebourne Village Hall over 65’s club Afternoon Tea.

We have been entertained by Tom Abraham’s, Jon Beetham, Alan Stephens, Geoff Stephens, Chris Field and our ole favourite Glenda. They always get us singing and in some cases up dancing. The cinema club gave us some varied viewing with South Pacific, War Horse, Greece, Top Hat and many more. The gardening club is still in full swing and we are producing tomato’s which are delicious. Keeping everything watered with this hot weather is challenging. The catering staff have produced some wonderful ‘Taste it Tuesdays’ with American, Jamaican, Peruvian, Russian and Turkish and other delights. Fizzy Friday had us sampling Pina Coladas, Strawberry Daiquiris, Pimms, Shandy’s, Fizzy Fruit Cocktails Orange/Cherry/Strawberry/Tropical and Watermelon and lastly ice cream sodas. The staff entertained us with a Rock and Roll Kaoaoke afternoon and some are quite talented.

We have had our Church Service, this is most appreciated that they find time to come in to us. We look forward to the Harvest Festival Service in a couple of weeks. We have had our usual arts and craft mornings and we have produced some very good art work. We held a residents meeting. These are useful for staff and residents as ideas for future activities and outings can be put forward and any concerns can be aired. We had an Egyptian afternoon and were entertained by a ‘Belly Dancer’ who was really good and she had us up to join in which was very entertaining. We look forward to what’s in store for August Activities to keep us on o
