Well, we are in to the New Year. It has been quite chilly but we have managed to avoid the snow. We started our year with a New Years tea party that was enjoyed by everyone and again the catering staff put on really delicious food. ‘Taste it Tuesday’ saw us going to Turkey with Lamb Kofta, chicken kebabs, flat bread and salads. We had crispy duck pancakes, prawn crackers, vegetable spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, prawn toasts and black bean rice on our Chinese experience. We had traditional Greek feta salad, tzatziki, pita bread and Greek yogurt and honey. We celebrated Burns night with Hagis, neeps, tatties and shortbread biscuits. Last but not least we had a very tasty Hungarian-Goulash. Needless to say after all that we were in need of our exercise classes with Tony.

Our musical entertainment this month included a new face to the home, Jasmine, who played the beautiful piano in the hall, with ‘The Piano Bar Experience’. We were also entertained by our usual favourites Jon, Chris, Tom and Geoff. The activities team have kept us on out toes literally with dancing, also quizzes, with a special one for Burns night with poetry reading and a travel the world quiz, which was quite challenging and got the ‘little grey cells’ active. We have baked, sung, played board games, had manicures, arts and crafts afternoons, painted and our first church service of the year. We have had a residents meeting where we expressed our views on what we would like to do in the coming months and also any concerns we may have. For those of us who can not manage to join in group activities we have had one-to-one’s.

We have been to the Hurricane museum, Wyevale garden centre for coffee and Preston garden centre to get plants for the greenhouse with Tony on the Mini-bus. We have had some great film afternoons with The Kings Speech, Breakfast at Tiffany
